Master of none… I am sure you have heard the quote before, but did you know it actually an extra line on that quote that totally changes the message in it.

The full quote is “A Jack of all trades is a master of none , but oftentimes better than a master of one”

It is not the first time in history that by withholding information some people try to manipulate the outcome towards their own agenda, if that is lying or if there is an other angel to it all, can always be debated.

In my opinion it is probably something that will alter your long term relationship if your opponent ever finds out that you are not telling the truth, on the other side you could argue that they should have asked more questions or at least asked if there is anything else they should know before making any decicions.

The issue today is that we do not explore enough by asking questions to clarify matters. enough, in most cases we only prepare our self to answer regarding our own agenda, with dire results to the outcome.

Nearly all of our decisions are based more or less on assumptions rather than on basic facts, in many cases it is usually decisions that confirm our own view of the reality, rather than of the actually reality.

The difference is that we tend to blend towards hope rather than towards the harsh reality and once reality hits us it usually unravel fast with dire repercussions.

The issue gets even worse due to that companies has employees that more or less has the same experience or lack or experience thats makes all decisions based within the same box of knowledge and experiences.

If you need to evolve your business modell to fit future markets it is time to start to try and alter the late ego in your company, just because it has worked before does not mean it will keep on working in the future.

You need to question yourself from time to time to stay on top of your business, if you do not question yourself someone else will suddenly corner your business and probably find a niche they can explore to their own benefit.

Companies don’t only need a lot of specialists to stay on top, they also need a lot of generalists, people that have a broad experience from several different branches of business, if you are well prepared your company will proactive avoid som pot holes along the road.

With the benefit of hindsight I have seen a lot of grand businesses going out of business or erode the marginals from 40% to less than 4%, the top brass are the same, but employees come and go at a frightful tempo.

My oldest son use to say to me once and a while “your are old daddy” in a reply to an issue we disagree on, I still haven’t replied to him that “he is to young to know” due to that experience is not always the key forward, sometimes it is just a fresh pair of eyes that is needed.
